Young earth creationism is one of those doctrines that I don’t struggle with at all. It seems to me that it’s the only option that is faithful to the Scriptures.
This is a good, succinct overview of the problems with all the other views.

I mentioned the Nephilim a few times recently for a reason. Today I want to follow up on that with some videos and a few articles. I’m going to post them in a rough order from low-key to most intense. The last article is the most powerful and it is intense. But it speaks in a profound way to what I think most of us are experiencing.
Those of us who are Christians have always believed that this life is a spiritual battle because the Bible makes that clear. However, I think many Christians don’t fully grasp what we are contending with at the moment. I’m still trying to sort out what I think about it all. I’ve read so much that I’ve not shared because I don’t want to advance ideas that are too far out there or wrong. But any Christian truly paying attention and asking for discernment and wisdom from the Lord can determine that we’ve moved way beyond what we experienced as Christians even just a few decades ago. The spiritual battle we are in now is overwhelming and intense.
We have moved into a time where people are openly using the word demonic to describe movements, people, and events. These aren’t even necessarily people who would call themselves Christians and yet they can identify it. People are discussing fallen angels. There is an increased fervency among Christians to understand the portions of Scripture that deal with related topics. (That’s another series of posts for another day.) Christian or not, people recognize that evil is right in their face at the moment. It’s undeniable even to those who have yet to bend the knee to Jesus Christ.
If you are weary, there is a reason for that. If you are emotionally exhausted to the point of numbness, tears, or blocking things out, there is a reason for that. I’ve discussed my own weariness on my other website, but only some of the reasons. Some of it is exactly what is in the last article in this post.
I hope you find the content below helpful. These videos and articles probably won’t tell you anything profoundly new. That’s not why I’m posting them. I’m sharing them so you can see that people are rapidly waking up now and so you won’t feel so alone. This has been a lonely journey these past few years as we’ve watched the slowly growing devastation and waited for everyone else to catch up. I’m thankful I’ve been awake in all this, but it has been painful beyond words at time. I am weary in a way I never have been before (and I’ve been through some pretty emotionally intense and draining experiences in my life). I still think it’s going to get worse before it gets better because there are so many people who are just now waking up even this week. As I’ve said so many times, we haven’t even gotten to the really bad information yet. But I do think we are much closer to that critical moment of shifting – whatever that is going to look like.

The latest piece from Media Matters is a virtual user’s guide to spiritually trustworthy commentary in the United States today. It begins:
Right-wing media figures are ramping up apocalyptic political rhetoric that literally demonizes LGBTQ people, perceived political enemies, and progressive causes, with some absurdly suggesting that demons are using portals to enter Earth and wage “spiritual war” against humanity.
Rhetoric about “demonic” influence and an existential, “spiritual” war has become a hallmark of right-wing punditry and Republican politics ahead of the 2024 elections, as Christian nationalism grows in popularity among Republican voters. Language that demonizes and dehumanizes political opponents has been a staple of right-wing commentary for years, but these recent accusations are not simple rhetorical flourishes; a number of media figures have begun to warn their audiences about occult rituals from the left and supposed portals to hell from which demons would enter the Earth.
I could pull out several quotes from this, but I won’t because you would miss the brilliance of the writing.

Many of us are weary at a deep soul level, and are experiencing the cumulative effect of micro-trauma, a kind of pervasive background hurt from the constant exposure to wickedness. The injuries are still disabling, just non-obvious and internal. We have been subjected to the most intense psychological and cognitive warfare ever conducted, including using artificial intelligence to manipulate minds and divide people via social media. There are neuroweapons on the battlefield, including EMFs, DEWs, nanotech, hypnotic devices, pharmaceuticals, GMOs, and poisons in our food and water. Pervasive war leads to new insidious harms.

I’m putting these things under the category Progressive Infiltration of the Christian Church, but I’m starting to think that’s not specific enough. We’ve crossed over into the straight-up demonic.

Doug Wilson is far more measured than I was when I saw the CT article shared on Gab. (I refuse to link to their article. They don’t deserve the juice of a backlink from me.) This is what I said:
There are no words to describe how absolutely disgusting this is from CT. They are wolves in sheep’s clothing and, I suspect, probably worse in some cases. They flaunt the name of Jesus Christ and drive people away from the Gospel. NO AMNESTY.
Yes, I am in agreement with what Wilson says here in his video. But it makes my blood boil with righteous anger to hear people asking for amnesty when you consider the lives they helped destroy. And they have the unmitigated gall to ask for amnesty when they won’t even recognize the disgusting part they played in destroying individuals, families, churches, and more.
The people at CT can pound sand until they wake up and realize how many people they have wronged.

I’ve been watching this situation develop over the past 6-12 months, but was waiting for the right time and the right example to write a post like this. Yesterday this video popped up in my YouTube feed and I knew this was the right one. It’s short and it so clearly illustrates what is showing up all over YouTube, social media, websites, etc.
There are a lot of facets to what I’ve been observing and this video only gets at one of them. It will take me a few posts to tackle the different issues so know that this is just a first post in what will need to be a few. I mentioned in some recent podcasts and posts that I could see this problem coming and I have an obligation to speak up because it is shaping up to be a trainwreck just like Vision Forum and the patriocentricity movement of the early 2000s. Lots of younger people today weren’t around to see it. They might not even know about it. I was. I saw how many families and lives it destroyed. That’s not hyperbole. It was a disaster on an epic scale.
I took down a lot of the posts I had written about these kinds of topics when I moved my other website in a different direction. But I’ve started pulling them out of my unpublished archives and putting them on this website under a Christian Issues – Controversies category. I specifically put three older posts about Vision Forum back up, but there are many more still unpublished that I need to find again. We need to keep a public record of the history of these issues because those who don’t learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. Most of the people who tackled these issues have either deleted their websites or removed the content when they moved in another direction. I can still find them in the WayBack Machine, but that’s only because I know which websites to look for or I have old bookmarks still saved. Most of it has been lost which is tragic.
There is a movement of younger and young-ish middle-aged men and pastors who were not around for the disaster that overtook conservative homeschooling circles and the family-integrated church movement. But they are displaying the same attitudes, mouthing the same ideas, and showing the same posture today. It actually makes my stomach hurt to listen to them at times because I do not wish to watch Vision Forum 2.0 play out again. I know there is nothing new under the sun, but I will not hesitate to speak out this time and call it out. I was cautious the first time which you can tell in my posts from 2006 and so on. I’m not hesitating this time.
The problem with Vision Forum, in particular, is that they got quite a bit right and addressed with firmness issues no one else in the church was really discussing with any kind of clarity and conviction. This drew people in for the good that they offered. They were a couple of decades ahead of their time in some of the errors they pointed out. They were all over the Marxism-Feminism connection, for example, which most Christians did not understand at the time. But there was just enough wrong with their teachings that when it was combined with the unhealthy tendencies of some in their leadership it created a total and complete disaster that shipwrecked many families.
Some of the leaders in those circles at that time did learn from the experience and are more careful now. I would put Doug Wilson in that group. He said some questionable things, but his ministry never imploded like others did. There were no moral failings that tanked his life’s work. His ministry is now vibrant and flourishing as best as I can tell.
Here’s a short video clip by Joel Webbon at Right Response Ministries. In sharing this, I’m not saying that he is Doug Phillips 2.0. Not at all. I want to make that very clear. And I’m not trying to make him the face of the problem. His video was simply the first video that encapsulated what I have been observing and so it’s what motivated me to finally write this post. But listen to this clip and tell me if this does not sound disturbingly familiar to what was preached and pushed leading up to those dark days.
For the record, I do agree with some of what he says. I agree that Beth Moore and Jen Wilkin should be avoided. I do agree that women’s Bible studies create many problems in many churches. But he goes too far in terms of what he says about men leading their wives, in my opinion.
Look at the comments underneath the YouTube video as well. This kind of teaching is severe and confusing. It will breed all kinds of problem. Overbearing men will take this as permission to crush their wives even further. This is not conjecture on my part. We know it happens because we’ve seen this play out already.
(And, no, I did not go to him privately about my concerns because this is a public video which he put out there himself as part of his video ministry. I’m going to cut that tired objection out of the conversation before anyone even makes it. If a pastor or teacher publishes their own content in a public forum, it is open to public critique. Period.)
I’ll make some other observations in my own comment section below. What stands out to you, especially if you lived through the entire Patriocentricity, Vision Forum, etc. debacle that destroyed homes and churches?
